ADEXPEDIA, INC. APPOINTS JAMES D. HELIN AS NEW ADVISORY BOARD MEMBER
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Chico, California, November 11, 2000: On November 2, 2000, AdExpedia, Inc. signed an agreement, with James D. Helin, adding James to AdExpedia's Advisory Board. James brings substantial experience in marketing and electronic/Internet advertising.
About James D. Helin
As the Chief Marketing Officer of the Los Angeles Times (http://www.latimes.com), James has performed many important roles and has direct responsibility for the LA Times New Media, Los Angeles Times Syndicate and Los Angeles Times Book Publishing. He led latimes.com to highest rated news and information Web site in Southern California. James has established branding knowledge and has strategic responsibility for general, direct and promotional advertising.
As President of the National Edition he established and introduced the Los Angeles Times National Edition to attract high demographic readers and national advertising revenue. This edition is strategically positioned to compete against the New York Times and the Wall Street Journal.
From 1996-1997 James was the President and Management Consultant of JD Helin Management Company where he provided various services to companies including:
- Strategic direction to a failing Internet company, Castnet.com, which progressed into a successful turn around and eventually to a profitable private sale
- Marketing strategies and budgeting to First Data Corporation for a newly acquired consumer products company, Western Union
- Internet related strategic planning and web development to clients such as Walt Disney,Poppe Tyson and the Los Angeles Dodgers
- Increased revenue at the Dodgers.com web site to become the largest e-commerce franchise sports site during 1997
From 1985 1995 James was the CEO, Managing Director and Member of the Worldwide Board of Directors of D'Arcy Masius Benton and Bowles (http://www.dmbb.com). James made substantial contributions to this now world leading advertising agency. James created a $250 million communications company from a hemorrhaging $12 million division of an international advertising agency. Within four years, this firm was honored as Adweeks West Coast Agency of the Year. Additionally, James created an entertainment division and developed it into a highly regarded organization with billings in excess of $100 million. Clients included NBC Television Network, CNBC, Fox Television, Paramount Studios, Island and Savoy Pictures and Warner Home Video.
Prior to 1985, James held senior management positions with other advertising agencies and consumer products companies.
James earned a B.S. degree with honors, Marketing from San Jose State University. James has past and present affiliations with several organizations including President and Director of the Western States Advertising Agencies Association, Director of the American Association of Advertising Agencies (New York) and instructor, University of Southern California, Institute of Advanced Advertising Studies.
James was awarded honors including the Leader of the Year, Western States Advertising Agencies Association, Adweek's Agency of the Year and Alumnus of the Year, College of Business, San Jose State University (1979).
