FIVE MAJOR NEWSPAPERS UTILIZE ADEXPEDIA'S INNOVATIVE PRINT-TO-WEB ONLINE ADVERTISING SOLUTION
CNET.com, February 13, 2002
CHICO, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Feb. 13, 2002 --AdExpedia, Inc., a leading provider of innovative Internet marketing services, today announced that five major newspapers around the United States have adopted or piloted the firm's print-to-Web solution to create and distribute interactive, online versions of newspaper advertisements.
The San Francisco Chronicle , San Antonio Express-News and the Dallas Morning News are using AdExpedia's technology to put display ads from print editions into a searchable, online database and put shopping inserts and special sections online. The Denver Post, meanwhile, is using the technology for special sections and the San Jose Mercury News has used the technology for a pilot special section project.
As advertisers seek new, results-driven solutions for leveraging the Internet, retailers and newspapers are turning increasingly to print-to-Web technologies, according to John Strisower, Chairman & Chief Executive Officer of AdExpedia.
"We are pleased to support these five prestigious daily newspapers in leveraging the investment of time, money and branding effort required to produce advertising," Strisower said. "By cost-effectively creating digital equivalents of display ads and traditional Sunday circular ads, we enable retailers to convert surfers into shoppers."
AdExpedia combines the best features of the print and online media, Strisower noted. Online shoppers can access the same full version of display ads, special sections and circulars available in print, and they experience the same familiar format, via the Internet, that they see in print.
In addition, AdExpedia's Integrated Marketplace offering provides a searchable database so a web surfer can search a newspaper's display advertising, inserts and special sections by advertiser, brand or product. Users can register for alerts by advertiser or product.
In addition to major newspapers, brand-name Global 2000 retailers are adopting AdExpedia's technology to reach online shoppers more efficiently than ever before, Strisower noted. In 2001, major retailers such as Petco, Big O Tires, Michael's Arts and Crafts, Jo-Ann Stores and Meijer Stores began using AdExpedia technologies and proprietary, patent-pending software, systems and processes, Strisower said.
