Client Corner

With the Holiday Season very much in full swing, we at Travidia are fortunate to see the celebrations from a rather interesting vantage point. Having media and retail partners throughout the United States, Canada, and Europe; we’re able to share not only in a number of different presentations of our partners’ holiday messages, but also to share them in the five different languages in which we process those messages! It’s great fun and we wish all of you both a successful and an enjoyable holiday.

The Sales Team is very thankful for what has proven to be a truly rewarding year serving each of our partners, and has added reason to celebrate with some recent additions to our family. We’re happy to welcome a number of fellow professionals to Travidia’s Sales Team who will help us significantly expand the reach and the impact of our efforts in the years ahead. They include:

Kathy Wager, VP Media Sales (Eastern Region)

Kathy joins Travidia with more than 16 years of experience in Newspaper and New Media Sales. She started her career in the Poughkeepsie Journal’s phone room doing tele-sales, and later served as the Manager of the Telemarketing Department before moving on within Gannett to The Bridgewater Courier News. Over the years, Kathy handled retail and classified outside sales territories, Telemarketing departments, and was a Special Sections Manager.

In a career-broadening move, Kathy went to work for Sawyer Ferguson Walker, a Newspaper Rep firm, and then was a member of a National Team put together by the Denver Rocky Mountain News.

In 1999, she joined AdOne, focusing on classified verticals for newspapers. AdOne became PowerOne Media, and Kathy helped newspapers build out their Employment, Auto, and Editorial online products.

Kathy will manage Travidia’s new media sales efforts in the Eastern Region of the US, and is looking forward to helping our partners establish and maintain their competitive edge through our best-of-breed solutions!

Susanna Maples, VP Media Sales (Central Region)

Susanna has spent 16 years in the Newspaper and New Media Sales business since starting her career as an intern with the Fort Worth Star-Telegram while a student at Texas Christian University. She went on to join the sales team at the paper upon graduation, and subsequently moved to Abilene where she was the Major Account Manager for the Abilene Reporter News. While there, she successfully negotiated contracts for major advertisers that included Dillard’s, Lowe’s, Office Depot, Michaels, and Wal-Mart.

Over the next several years, Susanna served as the Southern Territory Manager for Sawyer Ferguson Walker, as a National Account Manager for the Denver Rocky Mountain News, and as a Regional Sales Manager and Regional General Manager for AdOne/PowerOne Media.

Susanna will be responsible for Travidia’s new media sales in the Central Region of the US, and is excited to be able to provide both present and prospective media partners with our market-leading services!

Jim Bonfield, VP Retail Sales

Jim also brings over 16 years of experience to Travidia, many of them with McClatchy’s flagship newspaper in northern California, The Sacramento Bee. As their New Media Division’s Business Development Manger, he led The SacBee into the ISP business, launched Furniture Finder as the prototype for retail verticals, and pioneered the partnership that resulted in Sacramento.com. A respected authority on search engine strategies and marketing database sales programs, Jim joins other Travidia leaders in their field who also have one or more patent-pending inventions.

Jim will be responsible for extending Travidia’s market-leading products and services across the retail spectrum through such high-impact offerings as our Syndicated Marketplace program, and welcomes the chance to join a team that is clearly committed to our media and retail partners!

Matt Haverkamp, Media Account Manager

Following graduation from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and a year in the retail business, Matt joined Nando Media out of Raleigh, North Carolina. Initially serving as Online Advertising Traffic Coordinator for McClatchy’s west coast newspapers, Matt subsequently joined Nando’s sales team and helped create a new client base for their content management software, classifieds delivery system, ad management service, and 24-hour content news feed.

After four years with Nando Media, Matt and his family moved to Washington, D.C., where he joined USATODAY.com as an IT Product Manager helping to support the Editorial, Marketing, and Business Development teams. While at USATODAY.com, Matt successfully managed content partner relationships, launched a new streaming video and advertising portal, revamped its wireless delivery vehicles, and managed the development of various news related verticals.

As an Account Manager now with Travidia, Matt looks forward to once again building lasting relationships with our ever-expanding list of partners, while helping them leverage their online resources in today’s challenging marketplace!

Comment: Needless to say, we at Travidia have good reason to be excited about the coming year, and trust that it will be a very successful one for all of you as well. We wish you, your families, and your colleagues all the blessings of the season now and throughout 2005!

Best Regards,

Bruce M. Freeman,
Senior Vice President, Sales

PEOPLE AND POSTS

Technical Writer - Karen Mullner

Another new member to welcome to Travidia's professional team is Karen Mullner. She joins us as a Technical Writer for the Development Team. Karen brings years of software experience to Travidia, as a business systems analyst working with billing, customer management, order management, and equipment inventory software in the telecommunications domain.

Her experience includes writing requirements, leading user groups to elicit requirements, managing software deployments, creating system and process documentation, and training end users and managers. Karen is excited about bringing that experience to Travidia's business domain and working with the Development and Creative Teams to produce quality documentation for existing and upcoming products. Her enthusiasm, creativity, analytical skills, and sense of humor make her a great fit for her role here as Technical Writer.

Director of Quality Assurance - Paul Winer (by HT Levine)

It is my pleasure to be able to contribute to the Travidian. We have an awesome Technology group and I can't tell you all how cool it is to give props to the crew!! As we continue to enhance Travidia's technology over the next couple of months, one of our missions will be to bring the formal concept of QUALITY to our products, tools and customer sites.

That said, I cannot tell you how very happy I am to introduce our QA Director, Paul Winer. Paul is truly a QUALITY guy in every sense of the word! Paul joins us from Bank of America where he was VP of Quality Assurance for the Securities Division. He brings 25 years of Quality experience to Travidia which include positions at DigitalThink.com, Snapfish.com and CNET just to name a few.

Henry Ford once said "quality is doing it right when no one is looking". There is nobody here at Travidia that I can think of that embodies this statement more than Paul Winer. You may not see him or hear him, but Paul has been quietly working to enhance the quality of our technology. Having personally tested literally thousands of products and websites throughout his career, he knows exactly where and how to look. This is becoming apparent as our client sites experience continuous improvements as a result of Paul's eagle eye.

By deploying automated tools to check the integrity of our sites along with adding rigorous QA process to works in progress, Paul Winer will be there every step of the way. He has a lot of great ideas and is excited to be bringing such things as dashboard reporting and quality status reports to Travidia's intranet. This will allow us all to track our progress as Travidia moves from Top of the Charts to DOUBLE MEGA PLATINUM BABY!!!

So remember he won't be making the tools we use, he will be making them better. He won't create our websites…he will ensure they are created better.
